Program Highlights

College Journey: Teaming for Tomorrow

In partnership with Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas and THECB, we’ve hosted a one-week residential summer camp since 2012. The camp, held on UT Dallas’ campus, introduces girls in 9-12th grade to engineering and computer science. To date, over 350 high school girls have attended. UT Dallas faculty, staff and students participate as facilitators and near-peer mentors. Girls attending the SEEC camp grow in technical skill, interest, and confidence.

Passport to Discovery

Working in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Metropolitan Dallas, the SEEC brings hand-on STEM programming to PreK-5th grade learners in Dallas Independent School District. The Boys and Girls Club also use SEEC Check it Out kits at their agency-owned youth centers and partner with the SEEC on their Annual Math Blazers program for DFW youth.

STEM Workforce Development Camps

Funding from the Texas Workforce Commission and others has helped the SEEC facilitate skill-based workshops for 9-12th graders. Workshops include instruction in  electrical and mechanical engineering,  and computer programming, computer aide of design (CAD), Life sciences, and robotics. 92% of youth attending reported increased confidence in STEM, with 89% having increased interest in attending UT Dallas and 98% having increased interest in pursuing fields in science and engineering.

Robotics Programs

The SEEC partners with and supports both BEST Robotics International and FIRST Robotics. To help teams grow in knowledge and skill, we offer workshops to Robotics coaches and periodically provide venues for team scrimmages and competitions.

The SEEC plays a large role in bringing robotics to the youth in other agencies in our community. We offer Robotics Kits for use in workshops and provide adults with the training they need to facilitate robotics programs for youth.
