The mission of Ashby House is to empower homeless women and their families to achieve self-sufficiency through holistic recovery models that address basic needs, support job readiness, and achieve cognitive efficacy and health education.
Participants will assist with various tasks such as organizing and sorting donations, participating in daily life skills classes, interacting with children in the transitional program, preparing for special events, and completing basic yard work and facilities maintenance.
It was inspiring to see the strength of the Ashby women, and even though they had fallen into dark times, they managed to turn their life around for the better. With perseverance and assistance, they were able to escape their life revolving around drugs in order to become better mothers for their children and lead happier lives. Being aware of other’s struggles opened our eyes to the fact that there is always someone who requires help, and that volunteering is critical in order to change another person’s life for the better.
