Resources

Many resources and activities are available to current and retired UT Dallas staff.

Staff Council Sponsored Activities

Monthly General Meetings – General meetings are open for anyone to attend and offer updates on council and University initiatives.

Staff Scholarships – Each semester, the council accepts applications for and awards scholarships to staff members pursuing academic or vocational programs.

Fundraising – The council raises funds for staff scholarships by organizing activities such as the campus-wide ink-jet recycling program, holiday sales and other initiatives. All fundraiser proceeds benefit the Staff Council Scholarship Fund.

Staff Awards – Staff Council sponsors the bi-annual CARE Awards and the annual Sandee Goertzen Staff Council Member of the Year Award.

Staff Appreciation Events – The council plans and hosts staff appreciation events throughout the year.

Additional Resources

Comet Card Discounts – Staff IDs provide access to the Comet Discount Program and reduced prices on items such as local event and movie tickets through the Comet Card Office.

DART Local Transit Pass – UT Dallas partners with DART to provide faculty and staff affordable access to public transportation as well as help reduce the number of vehicles on roads and campus parking lots. Employees may purchase annual DART Local Transit Passes at University-subsidized rates through the Parking and Transportation Office.

Employee Resource Groups – Employee Resource Groups offer the opportunity to network with fellow employees with similar interests, such as Young Professionals, Military and Veterans and more.

Employee Tuition Assistance Plan – UT Dallas offers eligible employees the opportunity to enroll in up to six hours of regular academic credit per semester at a reduced rate.

Eugene McDermott Library – The library offers staff access to books, journals, newspapers, DVDs and streaming video on topics ranging from wellness to financial education to travel and more. Staff members can also attend workshops and tours, schedule consultations with librarians and access materials from home.

Galerstein Gender Center – The center fosters a safe and inclusive environment by advocating for gender equity and diversity through leadership development, education, programs and services.

UT Dallas Wellness Committee – This University-wide committee aims to provide a variety of programs, tools and resources that will enable staff, faculty and students to take charge of their own physical, mental and spiritual health. In addition, the committee promotes various wellness and nutrition topics, as well as events offering on-campus health services.

UT Dallas Employee Wellness Program – offers several services and resources to faculty and staff to support the well-being of employees, retirees and their family members.

UT System Living Well – All UT System employees, retirees and dependents can access this program for health and wellness resources such as free wellness challenges, tobacco cessation resources and a 24/7 nurse phone line.

The University of Texas System Employee Advisory Council (EAC) – The EAC provides a forum for communicating ideas and information between employees, the Board of Regents, and the Executive Officers of UT System.

UT Dallas Retiree Association – The UTD Retiree Association is dedicated to the wellbeing of the University, its retirees and the community. Its mission is to promote continued collegiality and communication among retired faculty and staff and provide a vehicle for them to remain in contact with each other and support the goals and endeavors of their university.
