The University of Texas at Dallas is a comprehensive, state supported institution of higher learning, offering a variety of programs at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels. U.T. Dallas is committed to providing quality education to a diverse student body and offers high quality programs designed for both full time and part time students. The university has a special commitment to two undergraduate populations: freshmen selectively admitted from the top ranks of graduating high school seniors and students transferring with superior academic records from area community colleges and other educational institutions.

The University of Texas at Dallas accepts applications for admission from freshmen and transfer students at all levels for the fall, spring and summer semesters.

The Office of AdmissionsEnrollment Services, located in Hoblitzelle Hall, is the gateway to the university for prospective undergraduate students. Professional staff membersadmissions counselors/advisors provide information regarding the college selection process through mailings, school visits, participation in college fairs, campus tours, the internet (link) and a variety of other special events. Campus tours are provided weekdays at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. In addition, The Office of AdmissionsEnrollment Services provides pre-admission counseling sessions for transfer students regarding eligibility for admission and transferability of coursework.

Admission to UT Dallas is open to all candidates on the basis of academic preparation, ability, and availability of space without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, gender, age, disability, citizenship, veteran status, or sexual orientation.

Admission to The University of Texas at Dallas is open to all candidates on the basis of academic preparation, ability, and availability of space without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, gender, age, disability, citizenship, veteran status, or sexual orientation.

As with all state institutions of higher education, the procedures and criteria for admission used by The University of Texas at Dallas are effective as of the publication date of this catalog but are subject to change by actions of the Texas Legislature or the Board of Regents.

Applying for Admission

To apply to UT Dallas, all students should submit an admissions application, form. Interested students may applying on the Web at http://www.applytexas.org/. Freshman and sophomore applicants must submit two copies of official high school and, if applicable, college transcripts, as well as results of the Scholastic Achievement Test (SAT) or American College Test (ACT) examination. Junior and senior applicants must submit two copies of official transcripts from each college attended. Applicants are required to submit copies of relevant past academic transcripts, test scores and other degree specific documentation by application deadlines to be considered for admission to The University of Texas at Dallas.

While hand carried transcripts will be accepted for admission purposes, Oofficial copiestranscripts in sealed envelopes may be delivered to Hoblitzelle Hall, or may be mailed directly from the educational institution. Official transcripts sent directly from each educational institution attended must be receivedpostmarked by the Office of Admissions no later than Census Day of the semester for which the student first registers. Students who do not meet this deadline will not be permitted to register in subsequent semesters or to receive UT Dallas transcripts until the official transcripts are received. All materials submitted in the process of making application become the property of the university and will not be returned to the applicant.

Students may use the Common Statewide Undergraduate Application for Admission to apply to any public university in the state of Texas. There are two versions of the application, one for freshmen and one for transfer students. The freshman application will be available in the offices of high school counselors, while the transfer application will be available for community college or university transfer students. Both applications are available on the worldwide web at http://www.applytexas.org/. Each public university in the State will accept the Common Application, which can be filled out one time, copied, and used to apply to as many universities as the student wishes.

Once admitted, students have three long semesters to enroll before a new application is required.

Application Fees and Deadlines

UTD accepts applications for admission year round; however, applicants should have all necessary materials, including supporting documents, to the Office of Admissions by the following dates:

Entering in fall semester: July 1
Entering in spring semester: November 1
Entering in summer session: April 1

Applications received after the deadline will be considered late and will be processed for late registration.

The university encourages all students to apply as early as possible. Early application will assist admissions personnel in evaluating and processing submitted materials in a timely manner.

All fees are non-refundable.

  • The Priority Application Deadline fee is assessed if your application is dated on or before the posted priority date.
  • All applications submitted after the Priority Application Deadline date AND on or before the Late Application Deadline will be assessed a late application fee.
  • Applicants with international academic documents will be assessed an additional foreign credential evaluation fee.
  • All international VISA holders, regardless of visa type, must adhere to the International Application Deadlines.
  • All supporting documents and transcripts, with the exception of courses in progress, must be postmarked by the Documentation Deadline.
  • All incomplete applications after the Late Application Deadline will not be processed and a new application must be completed for consideration for any subsequent semester.
  • Individual graduate programs may have earlier application deadlines, so please check on their web sites for more information. Graduate students who need additional information about their application or admission decision should contact the program to which they applied. Note: International Students requesting an I-20 (F-1) or a DS-2019 (J1) are not eligible to begin their study at UTD during a 2nd 8 week session. Contact the International Student Services Office at (972)883-4189 for more information.

UTD encourages all students to apply as early as possible as it can take between 4 to 6 weeks to process an application. Applications received after the Priority Application deadline but before the Late Application deadline will still be processed; however, a decision may not be reached in time for students to avoid late registration. Incomplete applications after the documentation deadline will not be processed.

Last day to register for classes coincides with the last day to add class.

After receiving an admissions acknowledgement letter which includes their student ID, students may check http://www.utdallas.edu/whyutd/ to determine the status of their application and whether all required documents have been received. Students who have applied for admission can may also call the UTD Office of AdmissionsEnrollment Services at (972)883-2270 to check the status of their applications and determine whether the Office of Admissions has received all required documentation. The Comet Connection

Many of our students do not take the conventional path that leads straight from high school to a four-year college degree. The Comet Connection Program was specifically created to enable transfer students to blend their college experiences seamlessly - and without financial penalty. It offers a Guaranteed Tuition Program for four years through The UTD Plan.
