Annual Events and Workshops
International Week (iWeek) is a celebration of the cultural diversity of UT Dallas. The festivities are anchored by two signature events: Passport to the World and International Talent Show. Other activities have included Sports Tournaments (Table Tennis and Badminton), International Tea House, Henna and more.
International Student Conference is offered in the beginning of each long semester, and provides expanded information about transitioning to life in the United States.
International Education Week (IEW) celebrates the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. IEW occurs each November and includes events such as: Study Abroad Returnee Appreciation Breakfast and Education Abroad Fair.
Education Abroad Fair, hosted each long semester, gives students an opportunity to learn about the various study abroad opportunities available to UT Dallas students.
English Conversation Hour (ECH) is led by the International Peer Advocates (IPAs), and is a series of informal hour-long sessions that give international students a chance to practice their English and learn about American Culture.
Culture Workshops are a fun way for international students to learn more about American culture. Past sessions have included topics about the American workplace, holidays, food, sports, traveling, living affordably and more.
Cultural Trips offer UT Dallas international students opportunities to explore Dallas and other areas of Texas. Annual trips include: State Fair of Texas, Dallas Zoo, Six Flags and an overnight Spring Break trip.
Education Abroad: Information Session — Discover the opportunities that UT Dallas Education Abroad offers! Attend this one-hour session where you will learn about study abroad opportunities, scholarships, application process, and more. There is no need to register.
Pre-Departure Orientation — Education Abroad invites all students who plan to study abroad to attend a Pre-Departure Orientation before your departure. This is a required component of the application process, and will include valuable information to help you prepare for your study abroad experience. Topics include: Final Paperwork, Health & Insurance, Safety and ISOS, Culture Shock, Money Matters, What to Pack, and Arrival Tips. You will also get the chance to meet other students who will studying abroad. Each session will last 1.5 hours, and snacks will be provided. Registration is requested.
Regional Socials are designed to support international students from regions and countries that are not represented in larger numbers at UT Dallas. Past socials have brought together students from the Middle East, Europe, Latin America, Korea, and many more.
Spouse and Family Events allow the family members of international students to gather for fun activities like pumpkin carving and gingerbread house decorating.
Texas Party includes dancing, games and food that symbolize the western culture of the state.
Thanksgiving Lunch partners the Residential Life with the International Center to provide a traditional Thanksgiving meal to students who stay on campus for the holiday.
Tax Workshops — Every April, all people who resided in the United States between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31 of the previous calendar year must file a U.S. tax form. Tax workshops provide step-by-step instructions to help students fill out Form 8843. Visit the Taxes webpage for more information.
