Volunteers Needed for Undergraduate Success Scholars
Faculty and staff who want to support underrepresented minority students are invited to serve as mentor liaisons for the Office of Undergraduate Education’s Undergraduate Success Scholars (USS) program.
The program gives targeted groups of students the opportunity to participate in a four-year cohort designed to facilitate social experiences, provide academic support and enhance student success outcomes.
Students participate in a “family” model of mentorship led by a peer leader. Each family consists of three to five members that include freshmen, continuing students, a designated student family leader, and one mentor liaison.
Mentor liaisons support family leaders by attending an orientation, meeting monthly with their student family leader and attending end-of-semester events hosted by USS. The USS program was recognized last fall by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board as a finalist for the Star Award.
The deadline to complete a USS Mentorship Interest Form is Wednesday, Aug. 8. For more information, email [email protected] or call Kimberly Edwards at ext. 3864.
