The University of Texas at Dallas celebrated Comets’ return from spring break with Springapalooza, a series of festive campus events organized by the Student Union & Activities Advisory Board and other University partners. It was the first time since 2019 that the celebration featured in-person events.

Events included the first Big Bad Comedy Show ever headlined by two women, Carmen Lynch and Kelsey Cook, on March 22. Comet-Con on March 23 was a full day bursting with cosplay competition, UT Dallas student artists’ work, guest speakers, classic video games and an esports tournament.

Los Angeles alternative-rock group The Wrecks performed at this year’s Totally Awesome Concert, and Casino Night gave students an evening of slots, blackjack, roulette and other games of chance. Oozeball, the mud volleyball tournament to help raise funds for first-generation student programs, made a messy return with not only its marquee game, but also several other mud-centric activities, including Slip ’N Slide.

The celebration culminated March 28 with the Splatter Dance, which had been postponed one week due to inclement weather. Participants danced to live music as they were soaked with glow paint sprayed from four colorful cannons.
