Hope would be a handheld application, preferably on smartphones that would assist people with communication disablity perform day-to-day activity. Day-to-day activities may include activities like having medicines at a particular time, going from home to nearby park and back, recognition of persons face to refresh memory about the relation both people share, etc.To carry out activities a healthy human being heavily depends on vocabulary. An ideal healthy person would have ability to talk, read, interpret/listen or write. Through our project we would help people who need assistance with this senses through a handheld device. For assisting older people we have divided our project into following categories/vocab -
- TEXT - Normal english words which is used in day-to-day activity. Understanding the context in which it applies is important here.
- ICON - An Image can speak 1000 words which in turn means there can be 1000 meaning associated with an image.
- SOUND - Sound will help people with hearing disablity.
- OBJECTS - Blind people can use static object interpretation to do daily activity.
- DYNAMIC OBJECTS - Again this would help blind people recognize moving objects around them.
Current progress of the project -
SPEECH Recognition and Generation - Using speech individual images are tagged. Also to maintain the tone of the speech recording would be done in future so as to completely integrate three main part of vocabulary i.e; text, icon and sound.
ICON RECOGNITION - Based on the context of the icon it would give certain options which would enable in sentence formation finally leading to speaking of those sentences.
OBJECT RECOGNITION - Day-to-day objects can be recognized through this feature.
